Conventional composite materials are largely petroleum-derived, energy-intensive, and non-recyclable, creating significant environmental challenges. Led by MaxPro Ltd, with the University of Malta as a research partner, the 30-month project will advance the technology from a current TRL 4 to a target TRL 6–7 by optimising bio-resin formulation, fibre preparation, resin infusion, and panel manufacturing processes. Material performance will be validated through comprehensive mechanical, thermal, acoustic, fire, and environmental testing to ensure scalability and market readiness. Target applications include construction components, acoustic panels, interior partitions, and eco-design furniture. The project establishes a circular textile-to-biomaterial value chain, supporting sustainable resource use and commercialisation.
