Description
As a Stress Engineer Intern, you will contribute to the development and validation of fluid-structure interaction (FSI) models. Your responsibilities are organized into two phases:
Phase 1 – Onboarding: Tools, Theory & Application
Read and understand the Le Mestre (2022) PhD thesis, focusing on the Boundary Element Method (BEM) formulation, Finite Element Method (FEM) structural model, coupling architecture, and added-mass derivation.
Get hands-on with existing BEM and FEM codes: run simulations, understand inputs/outputs, and reproduce the rebounding sphere FEM validation.
Requirements
Qualifications and Requirements:
Currently pursuing a Master’s or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
Strong understanding of fluid mechanics and structural mechanics, particularly fluid-structure interaction.
